LANGUAGE 6 (MS. RUTH DOMINGO-MENDOZA)

Good Afternoon my dear Grade 6 students !!!  The crisis is not yet over ... It is on its 18th day today and the clearing operation continues. Young as you are, you have seen and experienced this atrocity brought by some MNLF fighters ...Thousands of innocent people suffered and were left homeless; our daily routine had been paralyzed; Recently, our government announced the continued suspension of classes and work
( within the areas of concern) due to continuing sporadic firefights and the ongoing impasse between government forces and forces of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF).

We've missed two weeks already, so we thought of posting our lessons so that you can at least review at home.....

The last lesson we tackled in Language 6 was about the NUMBER OF NOUNS. Please go over with the handouts I gave RE: Different rules on how to write the plural form of nouns because when everything will be normalized,   a quiz on the said topic will be given.

Here are the other lessons you should read. ( You can PRINT this out and PASTE on your notebook, so as when we resume our classes, we will not dwell too much in copying of lectures.  It will just gonna be purely explanation and board exercises )

LESSON I :  FOREIGN AND ENGLISH PLURALS

Points to Remember :

1.     Some nouns in English are borrowed from other languages like Latin and Classical Greek. Their plural forms are referred to FOREIGN PLURALS.

2.     The foreign plurals of some of the foreign nouns in English are still used today. Others have both the foreign plural and the English plural forms.

Note : You need to master the plural forms of such foreign nouns in order to use them correctly in sentences. Memorize them :
