Multiple meanings

Words usually have different meanings according to use.
Example: school- a place for learning,
school- a group of fish
Read the sentences and find the appropriate meaning for the underlined word.

REAL OR FANTASY

When you read story, you need to be able to tell if an event is
real or true. Sometimes authors make up events or people in stories that are
imaginary or not true. Imaginary events are called fantasy.
Real- events that are
true and happens in real life.
Example: My mother is a
seamstress.
A pattern was made and
the fabric was cut to make a costume.
Fantasy: events that are
imaginary and impossible to happen in reality.
Example: Buttons,
scissors, threads and thimbles all shouted at each other.

Cover- this tells the
title and author of a book
Title page- this tells
the title, author and publisher of book
Copyright page- this
tells the year when and the place where a book was published
Preface- this is an
introduction to a book
Table of contents- this
is a list of the unit and lesson or chapter titles in a book. This also tells
the page on which each section starts.
Unit lesson/chapter-
this is a section of a book. A book may be made up of several units and lesson or
chapters.
Glossary- this is an
alphabetical list of words and their definitions found at the end of a book.
Bibliography- this is a
list of writings used by an author in preparing a given work
Index- this is an
alphabetical list of words or topics found at the end of a book. This tells the
pages where these words or topics can be found.
