Reading 5 ( Ms. Ruth Domingo-Mendoza)



         Good evening my dear Grade 5 students !!!  The crisis is not yet over ... It is on its 18th day today and the clearing operation continues. Young as you are, you have seen and experienced this atrocity brought by some MNLF fighters ...Thousands of innocent people suffered and were left homeless; our daily routine had been paralyzed; Recently, our government announced the continued suspension of classes and work ( within the areas of concern) due to continuing sporadic firefights and the ongoing impasse between government forces and forces of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF).

         We've missed two weeks already, so we thought of posting our lessons so that you can at least review at home.....

        If you can remember, a week before the siege, I have already listed down the different activities we will observe which include: Graded Recitation (Elocution Piece); Reporting on the Effects of Pollution etc….

      If the stability of the city’s order will be regained, consequently usual activities resume. The READING 5 CLASSES will follow the given schedule below: 



Day I : Reflection Writing
  ( To be written in school using your Journal NotebooK)

Procedure :

 

1. At home, please view the videos I have shared on my FACEBOOK wall, namely:
a.     Heal Our Land Zamboanga City
b.     Zamboanga Siege (Mindanao)
c.      Stand Zamboanga City
d.     Zoom In : Zamboanga City ( official video)

2.     Reflect on these cruel and inhumane acts caused by the MNLF Fighters.

3.     Keep abreast with the latest news about this atrocity.

4.     Be ready to write a Reflection Entry about this Zamboanga Siege.
Just gather your thoughts and be prepared with pertinent information so that you can make a good composition about it in school.


 Day 2 and 3 : Graded Recitation (Elocution Piece)
 
   **** A graded recitation will be conducted and at the same time , our elimination round. The Top 3 in each class will join the Elocution Contest. (Schedule of the said competition will be announced later )
The following are the criteria :

a.   volume and quality of voice ----        20 %
b.   mastery of the piece-----------------    20 %
c.   facial and vocal expression-----         20 %
d.   diction-------------------------------      20%
e.   posture and gestures --------------      10%
f.      audience rapport----------------------  10 %

Day 4 and 5 : Group Report (Effects of Pollution- which you prepared three weeks 
 ago )

  Bring the diagram you have drawn on the Manila Paper


 (So dear students, the schedule above shows the different activities we will have on our first week when the classes resume  )

    
     Note :  I will be posting again tomorrow some lessons which we will take up. The following are the topics :

a.     Cause and Effect Relationship
b.     Analogous Relationship
c.      Synonyms and Antonyms
d.     Homophones and Homographs

      Let us continue to pray, together light a candle and pray for peace so that we can all live normally without fear …too much damage has been done…Keep safe everyone !!!!
